Cake Bake and Sweets Show ’14

Today we visited the Cake Bake and Sweet Show! It’s here in Melbourne’s Convention and Exhibition Centre for only three days (October 3-5) so if you haven’t been yet, tomorrow is your last chance! The show has clearly been popular this year; we arrived at 10:15 a.m. and there was already a huge queue to get in, going all the way to the other end of the building. The queue was still long when we left the show… 2 hours later.

Much queue.

Once inside the exhibition hall, we were surrounded by food stalls from all the usual suspects (LuxBite, Adriano Zumbo, N2 Gelato, Gânache etc.) as well as many other stored we hadn’t heard of before. Stalls were selling everything from ice cream to fudge, lollies and macarons; everything sweet. There were beautiful cakes, macaron towers, a chocolate cake sofa and a display of giant chocolate flowers!!

We were here to try free samples and buy delicious sweets, but for the baking enthusiast there are also many baking/decorating stalls and classes available.

We left the show with a nice looking stash of treats between the two of us (including multiple free packets of CSR icing sugar because who would say no to free sugar?!). There were macarons from Cacao and Gânache, Charlie’s melting moments and bites, chocolate, a LuxBite tart, and a very large choc chip cookie:

We were going to buy something from Adriano Zumbo’s stall too but there was a queue for it! From what we saw, it was probably the most popular stall in the show.

Overall we had a great time and think it was well worth the entry fee, to be able to have so many good food stores in one place.
