Magnum’s Pleasure Pop-up Store (Emporium)
Last week on Friday the 10th, the Magnum pop-up store in Emporium opened for the last time. We headed there a few days earlier to avoid the last minute queues, but we still had to wait in line for about 15 minutes. It was well worth the wait though, once we were handed our beautiful customised magnums heaped with our favourite toppings. This is what we chose:
Verdict: The fact that it was a pop-up store is probably what made the experience most enjoyable; if the Magnum pleasure store was permanent the novelty of it would wear off. However it was definitely worth a try and the Magnums tasted amazing. The chocolate coating was slightly chewy, from the cold ice cream setting the melted chocolate. But this didn’t detract from the taste. Our friend actually had hers for Lunch – a testament to the fact that a good dessert can substitute for any meal.
Location: This store was temporary and has closed.
Intense cheesecake cravings lead us to this dessert store in Crown’s food court. They have a selection of cake slices around the $7-8 price range, as well as macarons and gelato. We picked the New York berry cheesecake and the chocolate cake, both with a side of whipped cream:
Verdict: Both cakes were a bit too sweet and rich, but they were ok for the price. We might go back in future if we are in the area and are really craving cake.
Location: The food court in Crown. Their website is here.
